Cold Sore Lip Oil

This handy little oil is a blend of soothing herbs known to have antiviral activity against the Herpes Simplex 1 virus that causes cold sores.

This Oil contains Lemon Balm Infused Oil, Scarlet Pimpernel Infused Oil and Self Heal Infused Oil. All 3 have been proven in studies to have antiviral activity against herpes simplex virus type 1 with Lemon Balm actually inhibiting HSV-1 attachment to host cells. Scarlet Pimpernel contains saponins responsible for its antiviral properties that not only inhibit the virus in the host cell but also minimises the production of new viruses. Self-Heal meanwhile has been proven to decrease HSV-1 and HSV-2 virus lesions. Scarlet Pimpernel is not always easy to find, so an easy substitute would be Rosemary, which has also shown inhibitory activity against the same virus.
